India
India offers students a view of one of the world's most diverse societies, from ancient monuments to fast-growing cities and large public welfare systems. It suits faculty in the social sciences, health and business who want fieldwork in a complex setting.
Overview
India as a classroom
India is home to more than a billion people, dozens of major languages and several of the world's major religions. Its cities combine historic quarters, universities and technology centers, while rural communities show very different patterns of work and family life. Students can examine caste, gender, migration, public health and education policy firsthand, alongside monuments such as the Taj Mahal and the forts of Rajasthan. The contrasts make India a demanding but rewarding site for comparative study.
ARAMFO has run faculty development programs in India on sociology, anthropology and social work, on sociology, psychology and social work, and on nursing, public health and patient-centered care, with stops in Delhi and Bengaluru. Every faculty-led course is customized to the professor's syllabus and travel dates.
