From the iconic pyramids of Giza and the treasures of the Egyptian Museum to the Islamic masterpieces of Cairo and the temples of Luxor, this program offers a rare opportunity to engage directly with leading scholars, preservationists, and cultural institutions. Day 1 – Saturday: Departure from the U.S.

  • Departure from JFK Airport (overnight flight to Cairo)

Day 2 – Sunday: Arrival in Cairo

  • Arrival at Cairo International Airport

  • Hotel check-in and rest

  • Overnight in Cairo

Day 3 – Monday: Academic Engagement & Ancient Heritage (Cairo)

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Seminar at an Egyptian university: “Preservation and Interpretation of Ancient Egyptian Heritage”

  • Guided visit to the Egyptian Museum with curators focusing on conservation of Pharaonic artifacts

  • Evening walking tour of historic Cairo (Islamic and Coptic heritage sites)

  • Welcome dinner in Cairo

  • Overnight in Cairo

Day 4 – Tuesday: Cultural Heritage & Museums (Alexandria)

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Day trip to Alexandria (approx. 2.5 hours by road)

  • Seminar: “Greco-Roman Influence and Modern Museum Practices”

  • Guided visit to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Alexandria National Museum

  • Return to Cairo in the evening

  • Overnight in Cairo

Day 5 – Wednesday: Islamic Architecture & Urban Preservation (Cairo)

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Lecture at Cairo University: “Islamic Architecture and Urban Heritage Preservation”

  • Guided visit to the Citadel of Saladin, Sultan Hassan Mosque, and Al-Azhar Mosque

  • Evening: Board overnight sleeper train to Luxor

  • Overnight on train

Day 6 – Thursday: Ancient Architecture & Site Preservation (Luxor)

  • Breakfast at hotel (or train service if applicable)

  • Morning arrival in Luxor

  • Seminar at Luxor University: “Archaeological Site Management in the Valley of the Kings”

  • Guided visit to the Valley of the Kings and Temple of Hatshepsut with preservation experts

  • Overnight in Luxor

Day 7 – Friday: Temple Design & Conservation (Luxor)

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Guided visit to Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple, focusing on temple architecture and conservation techniques

  • Evening: Board overnight sleeper train back to Cairo

  • Overnight on train

Day 8 – Saturday: Closing Reflections (Cairo)

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Group workshop: “Comparative Perspectives on Cultural Heritage and Preservation”

  • Closing reflections and networking wrap-up

  • Farewell dinner in Cairo

  • Overnight in Cairo

Day 9 – Sunday: Departure from Cairo

  • Final breakfast at hotel

  • Hotel check-out

  • Departure from Cairo International Airport to JFK

Program Cost Covers:

  • Round-trip flight from JFK to Cairo
    (flights from other states can be arranged for an additional fee)
  • ●   Domestic transportation (including Alexandria excursion and sleeper trains to/from Luxor)

    ●   Hotels in twin-shared rooms

    ●   Breakfast daily at the hotel

    ●   Unless otherwise stated, transportation to and from scheduled program activities is included.

    ●  ARAMFO will arrange for one group transportation to and from the airport at a time when most participants will arrive in or leave the host country.

    • Airport transfers for arrivals or departures outside the main group schedule (available for an additional fee).

    The Program Cost is $4,500

    Single Room Policy:
    Single rooms are available for an additional $600, subject to hotel availability. Payment is due 90 days before departure.


    Funding Your Participation

    We encourage you to seek travel and professional development funding from your institution. Many faculty members receive support through internal programs and offices listed below.

    This educational trip may be funded out of pocket or through institutional support. Schools and universities may cover the full cost or offer partial sponsorship for faculty participation.

    ARAMFO Payment Plan Options

    We believe every participant should be able to travel without financial stress. The plans below provide flexible options to fit different budgets.

    Option 1: Pay in Full at Enrollment (No Fee)

    • Pay the entire program balance at the time of enrollment.
    • Accepted methods: credit card, debit card, ACH, personal checks, and bank transfers.

    Option 2: Automatic Payment Plan (No Fee)

    Set up automatic monthly or bi-weekly payments with no additional fees. Payments are scheduled until 30 days before departure.

    How it works

    • No enrollment or plan fees.
    • First payment of $300 due within 30 days of registration; credited toward your total balance.
    • Choose monthly or bi-weekly automatic payments.
    • At least $1,500 paid no later than 90 days before departure.
    • Final balance paid no later than 55 days before departure.
    • You may pay off your balance early at any time without fees.
    • Accepted methods: credit card, debit card, ACH, personal checks, and bank transfers.

    Cancellation Policy

    • 50% of the paid amount refunded between 100 and 91 days prior to departure.
    • 40% of the paid amount refunded between 90 and 61 days prior to departure.
    • 30% of the paid amount refunded between 60 and 51 days prior to departure.
    • No refund within 50 days of departure.
