Thailand & Cambodia Faculty-Led Travel Course

This program combines Thailand and Cambodia, two neighboring countries with deep Buddhist and Khmer traditions. Students visit Buddhist temples in Bangkok, the World War II museum and River Kwai at Kanchanaburi, and Pattaya Beach, then continue to Phnom Penh, Choeung Ek and Siem Reap with Angkor Wat.

    Arrival in Bangkok

    The group arrives in Thailand's capital and settles in.

    Bangkok Temples

    Three of Bangkok's best-known temples show the range of Thai Buddhist art.

    Ancient Siam at Muang Boran

    An open-air park with scaled replicas of Thailand's major monuments gives a quick overview of the country's history.

    Bangkok Canals and Wat Arun

    Students travel by longtail boat through the canals, then visit a famous house museum and a riverside temple.

    Floating Market to Kanchanaburi

    The group visits a floating market and then the region tied to the World War II Thailand-Burma Railway.

    Bridge on the River Kwai

    Students ride part of the historic railway through jungle and mountains.

    Hellfire Pass to Ayutthaya

    A memorial trail marks the railway cutting built by prisoners of war, before the group travels to the old Siamese capital.

    Ayutthaya to Pattaya

    A morning among Ayutthaya's ruins before the group continues to the coast.

    Students see a mix of local attractions along the eastern Gulf coast.

    Travel to Phnom Penh

    The group crosses from Thailand to Cambodia and settles in the capital.

    Phnom Penh

    Students learn about the Khmer Rouge period and see Cambodia's royal and artistic heritage.

    Kampong Thom

    A village homestay and a hilltop temple give a close look at rural Cambodia.

    Sambor Prei Kuk to Siem Reap

    Siem Reap and Floating Village

    Students see local life around Tonle Sap Lake and meet Cambodian artisans.
